Peru will get the first luxury train of South America. The Belmond Andean Explorer will start operating in May 2017 and it will be one of the highest train routes of the world.
It will offer basically two different journeys, Peruvian Highlands and Spirit of the Water. Peruvian Highlands is a 2 night journey from Cusco to Arequipa, visiting the majestic Lake Titicaca and reaching 4,800 meters from sea level. Spirit of the Water is a journey from Cusco to Puno that visits Lake Titicaca and the island of Uros and Taquile.
The train will have Piano Bar Car, so passengers can have a cocktail while enjoying the tone of a medium grand piano. Observation Car, which is perfect for gazing the jaw-dropping landscapes. Dining Cars, which you can taste the freshness of local ingredients and dishes designed by Belmond Hotel Monasterio’s chefs. The train also has a boutique with handcrafted items and a library.
There are four types of cabins, Deluxe Bed Cabins, Junior Double Bed Cabins, Twin Bed Cabins and for one passenger, Bunk Bed Cabins.
The tickets starts from $ 462, including meals, day trips and open bar.
